When he selected this image of a small yellow tent on the banks of the Tatshenshini River in Northern B.C. for a double-page spread in our Summer 2011 “Ultimate Parks” issue, art director Ken Seabrook hoped to wow our readers. Last Friday night, we found out that we also impressed our peers when photographer and writer Bruce Kirkby, a Kimberley, B.C.-based adventurer, won Best Photo, Architectural, Landscape, or Still Life for the image at the 30th Annual Western Magazine Awards. Bruce’s photo perfectly presented the raw beauty of the province, and it was truly my pleasure to accept the award on his behalf. Congratulations, Bruce!
